PET POLICY

Pets are allowed in our Manufactured Home Communities providing they meet the following guidelines established by Boyd Roane, Inc. and Pentagon Properties, Inc.

DOGS:
*They are allowed provided they are small house dogs. Dogs must be kept in the home at all times except when taken out on a leash by an adult member of the household. Dogs may not be chained outside, left in a fenced area, leashed to a clothesline, or allowed to roam free. Large dogs, such as German Shepherds, Labrador Retrievers, Great Danes, and similar sized dogs do not, under our guidelines, qualify as house dogs.
*They must be vaccinated and wear collars with ID tags and vaccination tags attached.
*They must be well cared for, healthy, and seen periodically by a veterinarian.
* They cannot pose a safety threat to anyone else in the community. While it may be wrong to generalize, certain breeds, such as Pit Bulls, have reputations as being more aggressive and more dangerous than other breeds, particularly to children. The safety of the children in our community is one of our greatest concerns.
* They must not be objectionable to, or harm the property of, other residents, or disrupt the peace and quiet of the neighborhood by barking, attracting stray dogs, rummaging through garbage, or creating offensive odors.
* Pet owners are required to clean up their pet’s waste after walking them in the community.
* The owner of any dog in our community is responsible for the actions of his/her dog.
If we sense any confusion on the part of a dog owner, he/she will be asked to sign a statement acknowledging his/her responsibility and agreeing to be solely liable for any action of his/her dog which harms anyone else in community, or damages property in the community.
* Complaints about dogs should be referred to the community management office.
CATS:
* They are allowed, provided they generally meet the same conditions as dogs. Size is not a factor, as cats are small animals which can live comfortably inside the home.
* They must remain in the home at all times.
* They must be vaccinated and wear collars with ID tags and vaccination tags attached.
*They must be well cared for, healthy, and seen periodically by a veterinarian.
* While there is not a strict limit on the numbers of cats a resident may own, 2-3 per home is considered a reasonable maximum.
* Cats owners should not feed stray cats or otherwise encourage them to make the community their home.
* Complaints about cats should be referred to the community management office.
OTHER PETS:
* Pets such as hamsters, gerbils, fish, birds, guinea pigs, snakes, and other small animals have not in the past justified a written policy. However, any pet which disturbs others or poses a threat of any kind is not acceptable

_______
ANIMAL CONTROL:
*From time to time we will trap stray dogs and cats and/or coordinate with animal control the removal of such animals from our community. As we cannot make any guarantees regarding trapping and removal of animals on the property, the best way to ensure your pet isn’t confused with strays is to keep it inside your home.
